cinco de mayo!

I have seriously been waiting for this date to post this picture that I took during SXSW.

It's an awesome t-shirt I saw at an awesome venue on the east side.  Keeping it real :)

this is what I got for today.

whew...

I am in serious post SXSW recovery. So many bands, so many beers, so much food from stands...so much fun and music and not enough sleep. I have some random pics to post, but I have some serious novel hunt store work to do. The site is being totally renovated along with some new inventory to post up!

SO, for now here are a couple of pictures I took at a show in Houston that my hubby's band played. The venue is called Super Happy Fun Land and it is a complete artist's haven. I got to color and look at art and check out some bands and see the craziest Raggedy Ann Doll collection (of which I couldn't even take a picture of...it just would never do). This place and these two pieces of artwork in particular started my week off in such a great way. TTFN.

spring is on the way...

So, I was perusing Style.com last night and picked a random designer's spring collection to look through for fun. I love doing that, especially when I find some cool stuff! Here are a few sweet pics from the Erdem SP10 collection.

I really like black intermixed with bright florals. I think my favorites are the first and third...they speak to my inner goth. Because I enjoyed these pieces so much, I then checked out his SP09 collection...and what I found was even more awesome!

No black, but I LOVE the 70's influence... especially the second piece! It makes me want to frolic in the grass and sing! Thanks Style.com for all the wonderful inspiration!

bubble wrapped!

I am trying this thing were I wake up before noon and go to bed before 3:00 a.m. I woke up at 9:15 this morning and I am so sleepy! I thought I should post this picture I took at the Monarch. I do not know the artist who painted this, but it is just awesome.

seriously, my second time out!

I'm late in posting this (as I am still grasping the art of the blog), but I couldn't believe that the second time I went out (actually the night after bear hat) I spotted someone wearing something furry on his head...AGAIN! I had been getting a little friendly with rum that evening, so I honestly have no clue if this was made from a real skunk or not. God, I hope it wasn't. Anyway, I had to get a pic. How often do you see people wearing animals on their heads? Really? Well, this guy was cool and patient in taking a few pics until a decent one came out. Thanks skunk guy!

my first game

Here is what I returned with after my first trip out hunting:

A freaking bear head hat!

This gentleman was kind enough to allow me to photograph him and his AMAZING faux bear head! (Well, I am 99% sure it wasn't real)

I wish the picture did it better justice, because in person it was quite a beauty. Seriously, it's a hat made to look like the head of a black grizzly bear - furry, with ears, eyes and even teeth! I do hope you can feel the power of his roar! This is just the sort of thing you wouldn't expect to see out at Emo's during free week here in Austin, TX...yet I can't say I was totally surprised. I couldn't ask for a better start to this whole venture for beauty and creativity in the everyday. Talk about some great hunting!

I applaud this hat and this man for sporting it. I suspect it's only a matter of time until others will be copying. I wonder if I can make me one out of a stuffed animal or something?
